Description

Carmena Z, a great Carthago Z son in an Irish coat!

Under the Irish Shane Breen Carmena Z gave many convincing showjumping performances. Carmena Z represented Ireland many times in Nations’ Cups and won the Queen Elizabeth II Cup at the CSIO5* at Hickstead in 2008 when only 8 years old.

He is now competing with Saer Coulter of the United States who is a pupil of Ludger and Merideth Michaels Beerbaum. Carmena Z competed at the World Cup in Lyon 2014 where he was clear three days in succession!

Carmena Z is looking at a great future as a sport horse and, considering his valuable pedigree, a lot is expected of him in breeding, as well. Sire Carthago Z is one of the best sport and breeding stallions of his generation and under Jos Lansink he started in two Olympics. Carmena’s dam Irma is a full sister of the also Studbook Zangersheide licensed stallion Dutch Treat. Unfortunately, latter showjumping talent died as a 7-yr-old, just before he would make his international breakthrough. Irma and Dutch Treat both descend from the Swedish top-class sire Irco Mena on which Royne Zetterman started in the WC of The Hague. Under Jack Doyle Carmena’s grandam Trump Carder successfully performed in the national sport. Her full brothers Vagabond King (Jack Doyle) and King’s Meadow (Orlando Izzo) did the same at Grand Prix level. All three descend from the world-famous showjumping horse supplier King of Diamonds. In the fourth and fifth removes Carmena Z carries a lot of thoroughbred blood through the stallions Harrigan xx and Seven Bells xx. This family also produced the GP showjumping stallions Royal Concorde (Concorde) and Clover Flush (Clover Hill).
